Some of my Favorite Breakfast Fruit Toast Toppers

Some of my Favorite Breakfast Fruit Toast Toppers

One of my favorite things to make is a fruit and nut toast topper. (Or as they call them in Italy; crostino or bruschetta.)  They can be eaten any time of day, but they make a satisfying and healthy breakfast. There are so many variations - you can mix it up with whatever ripe fruit is in season. Any type of good toasted bread works; sourdough, french, pita, english muffins - or even gluten free bread. I use the toaster or lightly brush with oil and grill the bread in a pan first.…
Colorful Caesar Salad

Colorful Caesar Salad

Caesar salad is a very popular salad that is really simple and has just a few ingredients. It is traditionally made with romaine lettuce, croutons and a caesar salad dressing. The homemade dressing is what makes it really special! For my version I added a little color to it with some additional vegetables. This makes it even healthier, and I think it adds to the flavor. Breezin’ Up / Hamptons is Ready for the Summer Season

July 4th weekend for Breezin' Up signals the real beginning of the summer season. Schools are finally out and everyone is anxious to get to the beach and enjoy the summer weather. This weekend I went to the Hamptons to do windows and to make sure the stores were stocked and prepared for the holiday weekend. Look who I…
Father’s Day Blueberry, Peach & Plum Clafoutis

Father’s Day Blueberry, Peach & Plum Clafoutis

Clafoutis is a French dessert (or breakfast dish) that is baked in a skillet or pie pan. It is usually made with pitted black cherries, but any type of fresh ripe fruit may be used. It has a an eggy flan-like texture, and is a delicious way to use fresh fruit. It is very simple to make, but it is also elegant and versatile. It would make a wonderful Father's Day breakfast! I made this clafoutis gluten free, which is really pretty easy since there is very little flour in it anyway. Clafoutis…

6/6/15 The Wedding

6/6/15 All of the wedding planning and decoration making came together at last on June 6th, 2015. (see my earlier blog about making your own rustic wedding decor) The day started out cloudy with a rumbling in the air and a prediction of a thunderstorm sometime in the afternoon..or possibly evening.  (the wedding was scheduled to begin at 5:00 with drinks by the pool!) We were not too worried because there was nothing we could do about the weather. So we decided we may as well enjoy the wedding! At Congress Hall the bride…
