Kale Spoon Salad

Kale Spoon Salad

When I lived in Connecticut one of my favorite restaurants was Paul Newman's Dressing Room in Westport. I was always very impressed with the "Spoon Salad" that was on the menu daily. The appeal for me was the variety of seasonal produce used, which was chopped into small bite size pieces. It was served in a bowl & tossed with a light vinaigrette and meant to be eaten with a spoon. The salad changed weekly according to what local produce was fresh and available. Beet Burgers with Walnuts and Black Beans

Beet Burgers with Walnuts and Black Beans

Lorinda’s Waldorf Salad

I remember the first time that I tasted Waldorf Salad when I was young girl. There was something about the apple, grape, raisin, walnut combination that was appealing, but it had too much mayonnaise for my taste. This salad was created at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York in 1896, and has since been changed here and there from the original version. I decided to create an "updated version" of the typical Waldorf Salad with a few more fresh, healthy ingredients and some extra color. The addition of watercress adds a nice peppery…
Still Life Paintings That Inspire Me

Still Life Paintings That Inspire Me

There is something about still life painting that inspires me. I have been drawn to this genre of painting for as long as I can remember and I am not quite sure why. I guess it is because it combines my love for interiors, fabrics and also for beautiful fruits and vegetables. Anyway, the combination is irresistible for me and I cannot get enough of it. Here are some paintings that I look to for inspiration. Paul Cezanne More Cezanne Henri Matisse Vincent Van Gogh Renoir Claude Monet Claude Monet Chardin
